Fluted walnut cabinet

After many months being unable to find a suitable piece of furniture to house a new audio system, a brief was provided to create a design sympathetic to its interior and hide away audio separates and a number of cd’s. The piece had to be elegant and work in harmony with the existing walnut antiques in the room. With this in mind we opted for a gentle ellipse form and a contemporary version of a pedestal base. The design was proposed with a resolved scale model and examples of material details.

The project is a fine example of precision cabinet making using an engineered reeded walnut detail to accommodating a pair of central tambour doors and custom made brass pivot hinges.
