Sculpted table

An exhibition curated by Jo Swait at the guild at 51 gallery, Cheltenham provided the opportunity to explore this design. The shaping relief creates subtle stepping of grain while producing intricate shadows depending on lighting direction throughout the day.

Driven by a personal love of objects that appear to defy gravity, various mock ups and weighting experiments were undertaken to achieve the counterbalance aesthetic.

The design can also be up scaled in dimension with further experiments.
